5.1.9 Burst Power
The burst power measurement is an accurate method of determining the average power for
the specified burst. The analyzer is set into zero-span mode, with a sweep time that
captures at least one burst. For more information see “Meas Setup (Burst Power)” on page 371.
The burst power measurement acquires data from the “Measured Area” above when a
radio standard is chosen and when
Meas Setup, Meas Method, Measured Burst Width is
selected. When Meas Setup, Meas Method, Above Threshold Lvl is selected, the “Measured
Area” extends the burst width delimiter lines to the start and stop points.
The mean carrier power is calculated by:
1. converting each trace point amplitude from dBm into linear power
2. Adding the above amplitudes together and dividing by the number of points included in
the average.
3. This value is then displayed in logarithmic form (dBm).
