16-port Asynchronous/
Synchronous Serial
Network Module
The NM-16A/S combines
the rich multiprotocol
support of the NM-4A/S
and NM-8A/S with higher
densities to provide
compelling price-per-port
solutions for networking
applications In addition to
the features of the
NM-4A/S and NM-8A/S,
the NM-16A/S adds
EIA-530A support, and
support for physical
lead manipulation in the
IOS conguration Lead
manipulation allows the
user to congure the router
to ignore input signals,
view the state of input
signals, and to monitor the
transitions of input signals

In order to achieve higher
port density, the
NM-16A/S uses the Smart
Serial connector that is
also used on the WIC-2T
WAN Interface Card Thus
customers must order
Smart Serial cables for
use with the NM-16A/S
instead of the 5-in-1 cables
used on the NM-4A/S and
NM-8A/S

Four-port Serial Network
Module
Provides four synchronous
serial interfaces, and
supports a total full-duplex
throughput of 8 Mbps,
which can be realized over
one port (at 8 Mbps) or
across all four ports (at 2
Mbps on each port) Each
port supports full-duplex
operation at T1 and E1
speeds All ports use
identical DB-60 connectors
that support ve interface
types (RS-232, RS-449,
RS-530, V35, X21) in either
DTE or DCE mode
