22 Chapter 6 - Basic Configuration Guide
Suggested for DECnet
Setting the parameters above should be adequate for most installations.
WAN Interface Configuration
In order to use a WAN interface, you may first need to set some phys-
ical parameters and then set up the link and protocol parameters.
There are differences between the capabilities of the built-in T1
CSU/DSU WAN interface and the RS-232 WAN interface. The T1
interface can only be used with lines which run at fractional or full T1
rates. The RS-232 interface can be run synchronously or asynchro-
nously, at rates up to 256Kbps (sync) or 230.4Kbps (async).
Internal T1 CSU/DSU (WAN 0) Physical Communications
Settings
Required for Dedicated Line Operation
No changes from the default values are required for standard operation
over a full T1. The default values are listed in Appendix A.
Suggested for Dedicated Line Operation
Changing to fractional T1, different coding or framing, etc., may be
required for a particular installation.
CV: Use the Physical Configuration: WAN 0 Dialog Box.
TB: Use configure and the T1 Interface WAN 0 section.
RS-232 (WAN 1) Physical Communications Settings
You may need to set the baud rate, sync/async operation, and other
physical communications parameters for the WAN interface. These
parameters will depend on the line communications device you are
using.
Note: Frame Relay is presently supported in the MicroRouter
2250R only via synchronous operation. An external clock signal is
generated for Frame Relay.
CV: Use the Physical Configuration: WAN 1 Dialog Box.
TB: Use configure and set the LinkType keyword or other keywords
in the RS232 Interface WAN 1 section.
