Including Sharp 3.6 Volt
Viewcam Batteries
PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE USING THIS
PRODUCT.
Introduction
The OmniSource SVC (BCV636) is a fully automatic camcorder battery charger/conditioner which is compatible with almost any 6
volt battery for 8mm and VHS-C camcorders from Sharp, Sony, Canon, JVC, Panasonic, RCA and other manufacturers. By using the
adapter plates included, you can also charge the Sharp Viewcam 3.6 volt Ni-Cd, Ni-MH, or Li-Ion batteries.
The BCV636 uses a microprocessor controlled charging circuit which provides a safe, full charge every time. Also, Ni-Cd batteries
can be properly discharged and reconditioned with the push of a button. Charging, Full Charge, and Conditioning status is shown with
built-in LED indicators.
Flexible power input allows you to use the BCV636 from home with its AC Power Supply or on the road using the DC Cigarette
Lighter Adapter included. Avoid prolonged use in an automobile when the engine is not running as it may drain the battery in the
vehicle.
Operation:
1. Plug-in, either the AC 110V or the DC Cigarette Lighter power adapter, depending on where you are going to use your
OmniSource SVC. Connect the other end of the power adapter cable to the power input socket on the charger unit.
2. 6 volt batteries will slide directly onto the charger unit, making sure the contacts on the battery are aligned with the appropriate
contacts on the charger for your camcorder battery type. For 3.6 volt Sharp camcorder batteries, choose the adapter plate for the Li-
Ion (Lithium-Ion) type batteries or the adapter plate for the Ni-Cd/Ni-MH type batteries. Attach the proper adapter plate to the
charger unit, then slide the battery to be charged onto the adapter plate.
3. Once the battery has been properly connected to the charger unit, the Red LED (CHG) indicator will light up to indicate that this
unit has begun to charging your battery. When the battery is fully charged, the Red LED will turn off and the Green LED (FULL)
indicator will turn on. Remove the battery from the charger.
4. If you wish to condition your battery to eliminate minor memory problems or refresh a stale battery and restore lost capacity, push
the button in the lower right hand corner of base unit. The Red LED will go out and the Yellow LED (DIS) will begin to flash while
the battery is discharged to the proper voltage. As soon as the battery is properly discharged, the circuit will automatically switch
back to charging mode and begin to charge your battery.
Note:
Conditioning or fully discharging batteries is recommended ONLY for a partially-charged/discharged Ni-Cd type batteries. Ni-
MH batteries may also benefit from an occasional conditioning cycle. DO NOT attempt to condition Li-Ion type batteries.
Cautions:
Do not leave the battery on connected to the charger for prolonged periods (several days). Remove the battery after charge is
complete.
Unplug the charger when not in use.
Do not use, place or store the charger where it may come into contact with water or moisture.
Always replace frayed or damaged wire and broken plugs immediately.
Use this charger with the AC adapter included in the package only.
It is not necessary or recommended to discharge a Li-Ion prior to charge.
Note:
Batteries will self discharge when not in use whether they are attached to a camcorder or not. Batteries can be kept fresh if you
do not let them sit idle for more than two months without recharging.
Trouble Shooting Tips:
If the Red LED (CHG) indicator does not light up when the charger is plugged with power and battery has been attached, the battery contacts may
not be touching contacts on base unit. Unplug the unit and check connection of the battery to the charger. If adapter plate is being used, check its
connection as well.
