Sony DC-VF10 Battery Charger User Manual


 
Before operating the unit, please read this manual thoroughly and retain it
for future reference.
The DC-VF10 DC Adaptor/Charger (only for negative (–) grounded cars)
can be used by connecting to the cigarette lighter socket of a car as follows:
•to charge a lithium ion type battery pack NP-F10/F20/F30
(“InfoLITHIUM” battery pack S series)
•to supply power to the Sony video equipment that is compatible with a
lithium ion type battery pack
WARNING
To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose the unit to rain or moisture.
To avoid electrical shock, do not open the cabinet.
Refer servicing to qualified personnel only.
Notes on Use
Charging
•Use only a lithium ion type battery pack NP-F10/F20/F30
(“InfoLITHIUM” battery pack S series). This unit cannot be used to charge
a Ni-cd type battery pack.
•Attach the battery pack firmly.
•Charge the battery pack on a flat surface without vibration.
•Remove the supplied connecting cord (DK-115) from this unit. If not
removed, charging is not possible.
Charging temperature
The temperature range for charging is 32°F to 104°F (0°C to 40°C).
However, to provide maximum battery efficiency, the recommended
temperature range when charging is 50°F to 86°F (10°C to 30°C).
Others
•Use this DC Adaptor/Charger only for cars which use a 12 or 24 volt
battery.
•There are cars which are negatively grounded and there are others which
are positively grounded.
This DC Adaptor/Charger is for negatively grounded cars only.
•Use the unit with leaving the car engine going. If you use the unit with the
car engine stopped, the car battery may become unusable.
•The nameplate indicating operating voltage, power consumption, etc. is
located on the bottom.
•The negligible amount of electric current will flow into the unit as long as
the unit is plugged into the cigarette lighter socket of a car.
•Unplug the unit from the cigarette lighter socket of a car if it will not be
used for extended period of time. To disconnect the cord, pull it out by the
plug. Never pull the cord itself.
•Do not operate the unit with a damaged cord or if it has been dropped or
damaged.
•Be sure that nothing metallic comes into contact with the metal parts of
the unit or connecting plate. If it does, a short may occur and the unit may
be damaged.
•Always keep the metal contacts clean.
•Do not install the battery pack at an angle during use. Incorrect
installation of the battery pack can damage the connector of the unit.
•Do not disassemble or convert the unit.
•Do not apply mechanical shock or drop the unit.
•While the unit is in use, it gets warm. But this is normal.
•Keep the unit away from AM receivers, because it will disturb AM
reception.
•Do not place the unit in a location where it is:
— Extremely hot or cold
— In direct sunlight such as on the dashboard
— Dusty or dirty
— Very humid
— Vibrating
•Do not use the supplied connecting cord DK-115 with any other DC
Adaptor/Charger but this unit. Doing so may cause a malfunction.
If any difficulty should arise, unplug the unit and contact your nearest Sony
dealer.

Fuse Replacement See illustration.
If the unit connected by the car battery cord is not working properly, check
to see if the fuse has blown out. If the fuse has blown out, replace it in the
following way.
1 Twist the end of the plug and remove.
2 Remove the blown out fuse.
3 Insert the new fuse and twist the end of the plug and tighten.
Notes
If the car’s cigarette lighter socket is dirty with ash, etc., the plug part will
become hot due to a poor connection. Be sure to clean it before using.
When replacing the fuse, do not substitute anything for the specified
fuse.
If the fuse blows again soon after replacement, consult your authorized
Sony dealer.
Please contact your car dealer about the polarity that your car is grounded
or the voltage of your car battery, etc.

Remarques sur l’utilisation
Recharge
•N’utilisez que des batteries au lithium-ion NP-F10/F20/F30 (batterie
rechargeable “InfoLITHIUM” série S). L’appareil ne peut pas être utilisé
pour charger une batterie au nickel-cadmium.
•Fixer bien la batterie.
•Chargez la batterie sur une surface plane et sans vibrations.
•Débranchez le cordon de liaison fourni (DK-115) de l’appareil, sinon la
recharge ne sera pas possible.
Température de recharge
La batterie peut être rechargée à une température comprise entre 32°F et
104°F (0°C et 40°C). Cependant, pour que son efficacité soit optimale, il
est conseillé de la recharger entre 50°F et 86°F (10°C et 30°C).
Divers
•Utilisez cet appareil uniquement dans les voitures équipées d’une batterie
de 12 volts ou de 24 volts.
•Certaines voitures ont une masse négative et d’autres une masse positive.
Cet appareil doit être utilisé uniquement dans les voitures à masse
négative.
•Laissez tourner le moteur lorsque vous utilisez cet appareil. Si vous
arrêtez le moteur, la batterie risque de s’épuiser.
•La plaque signalétique indiquant la tension de fonctionnement, la
consommation électrique et d’autres informations électriques se trouve
sous l’appareil.
•Une quantité négligeable d’électricité circule dans l’appareil s’il reste
branché sur la douille allume-cigares.
•Débranchez l’appareil secteur de la douille allume-cigares si vous n’avez
pas l’intention de l’utiliser pendant un certain temps. Pour débrancher le
cordon secteur, tirez sur la fiche. Ne tirez jamais sur le cordon.
•N’utilisez pas l’appareil si le cordon est endommagé, ou s’il est tombé ou
a été endommagé.
•Evitez que des objets métalliques ne touchent les parties métalliques de
l’appareil ou de la plaque de connexion. Un court-circuit pourrait se
produire et l’endommager.
•Veillez à ce que les contacts soient toujours propres.
•N’installez pas la batterie rechargeable de biais quand vous l’utilisez.
Une utilisation incorrecte de la batterie rechargeable peut endommager le
connecteur de l’adaptateur/chargeur secteur.
•Ne pas démonter ni modifier l’appareil.
•Ne pas appliquer de chocs mécaniques à l’appareil ni le laisser tomber.
•Quand l’appareil est utilisé, il devient chaud. C’est tout à fait normal.
•Ne pas laisser l’appareil près d’un récepteur AM, car il perturbera la
réception AM.
•Ne pas entreposer l’adaptateur dans les endroits suivants:
— extrêmement chauds ou froids
— exposés au soleil, comme sur le tableau de bord
— poussiéreux ou sales
— très humides
— exposés à des vibrations.
•Ne pas utiliser le cordon de liaison fourni DK-115 avec un autre type
d’adaptateur/chargeur CC. L’appareil pourrait être endommagé.
En cas de problème, débranchez l’appareil et contactez votre revendeur
Sony.

Remplacement du fusible
Voir l’illustration.
Si l’appareil raccordé au cordon allume-cigares ne fonctionne pas
correctement, vérifiez si le fusible n’a pas sauté. Si c’est le cas, remplacez-le
de la façon suivante.
1 Dévissez l’extrémité de la fiche et enlevez-la.
2 Enlevez le fusible.
3 Insérez un nouveau fusible, revissez l’extrémité de la fiche et
serrez-la.
Remarques
Si la douille de l’allume-cigares est sale, couverte de cendres ou autres, la
fiche deviendra chaude à cause de la mauvaise connexion. Nettoyez
toujours la douille avant d’utiliser l’allume-cigares.
Ne remplacez le fusible que par le fusible spécifié.
Si le fusible saute à nouveau après le remplacement, consultez votre
revendeur agréé Sony.
Contactez votre concessionnaire automobile pour la polarité de la masse de
la voiture ou pour la tension de la batterie.

Center or Factory Service Center.
Note: In some areas the disposal of lithium ion batteries in household or business
trash may be prohibited.
