fitting the safety guard to the angle grinder...

I have just bought the GWS850C and I cannot fit the safety guard. Because of the 'lugs' on part no.7, the guard only seems to fit one way which means I cannot tighten it (the screw head is in the wrong position) and I wouldn't be able to see what I was cutting! Is it possible for the black ridged spindle to turn to a different position?
