k-0648 piston assy kit-...piston un-assembled, pi...

k-0648 piston assy kit-...piston un-assembled, piston ring is un-formed, i have "press fit" 3 pc piston however the ring does not appear to form satisfactorally enough to insert into cyl. w/out possibly cracking the sleeve. is there a correct process, or a trick to form the ring w/out cracking the ring and/or sleeve? thanks, jerry skaggs
