Trying to replace worn sanding belt on an old Craf...

Trying to replace worn sanding belt on an old Craftsman 3" Belt Sander Model # 315.11720. I cut the old one off but can't figure out how to get the new one on. It's my deceased husband's sander and this is the first time I've used it. HELP!
