What is the problem when an air compressor will build up pressure slowly? The intake filter and the relief valve have been cleaned.

5 It could be a number of things. Make sure the filter is in good condition too, any holes or tears could cause problems. Also, check your manual for the correct power voltage the compressor requires, it could be that your wall outlet just isnt enough. Another possibility is water in the tank or in the lines. Only some kinds of compressors have this so if the manual doesn't say anything about it than its probably not the problem but i would check If you have a valve to let excess water out than make sure you do. If its none of those than its most likely that the pump/motor is worn out from age, extended use, physical damage etc.
