5 Make sure you are wearing goggles. Cycle the motor so as to leave the tongue (blade holder) in a downward stroke. You can do this either manually or by turning the saw off and on in quick little bursts. Once the tongue is in the extended position, unplug saw and turn saw over. Then use needle nose pliers (or nail clippers) to grip remaining blade fragment and wiggle it free from the tongue. If the blade has been in there awhile and won't wiggle put some 3-in-1 oil or silicone lubricant on a sewing needle. Use the needle to distribute the oil or silicone along the edge of contact between the blade fragment and the tongue. Once the oil or silicone is distributed, try again to wiggle free with the needle nose pliers. NOTE: If your saw has a secondary safety catch on the tongue that secures the blade, make sure to disable before attempting to wiggle blade fragment free.
