circuit breaker keeps tripping when i turn compressor on. nothing else is on circuit. this started suddenly today.

0 Here's a possibility, I had the same symptom one day, and this solved it. If you're running the compressor on a 15 amp outlet/circuit and the weather is cold, try a 20 amp circuit ....if one is available and properly wired, the outlet will have a sideways "T" on one pin, and a normal strait slot on the other side with a ground pin at the bottom, similar to a 15 amp outlet. Compressors are harder to start when it's cold, and therefore draw more power from the motor, mine is happier with the extra amps during cold weather. You could have a totally different problem, so I'm just throwin' it out there.
