I have the JET JML-10141. I haven't used a lathe for 40 years tho. As I recall, after finding the center of your wood, we would use a hammer to strike a "bit", which set the point into the wood. How is the wood attached now? With brass screws through the plate and how do you set the point, just by pressure from the tailstock?
