John Deere 3407 chop saw, arcing under load, do I need brushes?

0 Brushes would be a good start, but I would also pull the armiture if feasable, and clean the passages between the contacts on the armature, with something like varsol, as they may be damaged by the arcing. At worst it would not hurt to use a q tip dipped in thinners to clean what you could thru the brush holders...
