Question About Makita Planer 2030
Changing drive belt on a model 2030...

I need to know how to change the belt on my 2030 model planer jointer,. Thanks Paul

0 take off one side of jiner table, then tip over all the say. Look very closely with a flash light and you will see a small allen screw holding a key in place, for both the fly wheel and the connector which holds the large planer shaft true to the joiner shaft. You will need to unscrew the connector, drop it down and then put your belt on. Then back up goes the connector, tighten the screws and you should be back in business.

0 I think it may be necessary to remove one of the drums that joiner side -unscrew the 4 screws on the end cap, Easy to pop off the bearing drum. The bearing has to pushed from the insider joiner frame- just pushed out of the housing. Once that is done, easy to slip in the belt, tighten the motor back up, and back to work. Make sure you remove the Allen screw holding the key in the shaft of the 4 prong connector- not knowing that screw was there cost my time and heartache. Screw also on belt flywheel.
