i plug in my air compressor and engine turns on. W...

i plug in my air compressor and engine turns on. When I turn the valve on, the gauge is on 0. I checked the oil, but it looked like it was empty. I put oil for compressor in it. I plugged it back and turn the valve on and the pressure gauge was still on 0. It seems to me that no air was coming out into the air hose.
