3 It's a damned battery charger. What the hell difference (in the REAL WORLD) would it make to have a switching-converter design? Who needs bells and whistles on a 12 volt battery charger? Engineers? Do you prefer a high-pitched squeal to a little hum?

0 I realize this is an old post.  There are several schematics for this exact model so proceed at your own risk.  Circuit are all essentially the same but the component brands, part numbers and resistance values vary widely.
