Cooper Lighting UEL Series Work Light User Manual

Step 8. Turn on the AC supply. The red LED should begin blinking to let you know that the unit is energized and giving the battery its initial charge. This will continue
for the first 24 hours.
Step 9. After 24 hours, operate the test switch. The DC lamps will turn on for approximately 30 seconds when the test switch is depressed. Also, this unit is
equipped with a photocell and can be tested with Sure-Lites’ LASER pointer by aiming the laser red dot on the hole labeled LASER TEST. The DC lamps
will turn on and remain on approximately 30 seconds.
Step 10. Adjust the lamp heads to the desired position.
Step 11. Check the O-ring in the backplate, to insure it is seated properly and free from dirt and other contaminants.
Step 12. Replace the polycarbonate weather shield and the four screws which hold it in place. Tighten screws to approximately 10 in-lbs, DO NOT
OVERTIGHTEN.
MAINTENANCE: None required. Replace the batteries every 8-10 years according to ambient conditions, however, we recommend that the equipment be tested
regularly in accordance with local codes.
NOTE: Servicing of any parts should be performed by qualified personnel. ONLY use replacement parts and batteries supplied by Sure-Lites. For replacement
lamps, battery, or PC board see the fixture label.
CAUTION: This equipment is furnished with a sophisticated low voltage battery dropout circuit to protect the battery from over discharge after its useful output has
been used. Allow 48 hours recharge time after installation or power failure for full load testing.
NOTE: Do not use solvents to clean clear plastic shield.
OPERATION: The diagnostic LED indicator indicates the status of the unit. When the UEL is first energized, the LED will blink, indicating it is in a fast charging mode.
After 48 hours, the unit is fully charged and in a float charge (normal) condition, and the indicator will be on steady.
The unit will automatically test the battery capacity every thirty days for 30 seconds. It will also perform a full battery capacity test for 90 minutes randomly within a six
month period. The emergency mode can be manually tested for 30 seconds by momentarily pressing the test switch, or by aiming a laser pointer at the photocell
labeled LASER TEST on the bottom of the unit. If the UEL is operating under battery power, either for test or in emergency mode, the LED will turn off. Operation under
battery power can be tested in this way at any time, however it is recommended that the test be performed only when the unit is in the float charge condition. While the
battery power will be used when the test button is pressed, it will only test the battery capacity when it is fully charged in the float charge condition. This feature
prevents the unit from indicating a false battery capacity failure which could happen if the battery is not fully charged and its capacity is tested.
NOTE: This unit is rated for 24 watts of lamp load. The two supplied 12 watt lamps constitute the maximum load for this unit.
