If problems a re exper ienced with the auto-
matic line feed, refer to the TROUBLE-
SHOOTING TABLE.
To manually feed the nylon line:
S If requir ed, the cutting line can be fed out
manually .
S To operate, press and release manual line
feed button while gently pulling on one of
thelines untiltheline reaches thelinelimiter
pin.

S Whenthe r equired amountof lineis fedout,
gently pull on the second line (there is no
need to press the manual line feed button
again).
S If the line extends past the line limiter pin,
too m u ch linehas been fed out.If too much
line is fed out, remove the spool cap and
clickspoolcounterclockwiseuntil theline is
at the desired length.
To remove spool cap:
1. Pr ess and hold in the two cap release
latches.
2. Pull cap away from the hub.

To reinstall spool cap:
1. Keep all areas of the cap and hub clean.
Failure to do so may prevent the cap be-
ing se curely located in the hub.
2. Re p lace thecap, pressingfirmly down t o-
wards the hub to ensure cap is fully se -
cured.
3. Ch e ck that the cap is secu re by trying to
remove it without pressing the two
latches.
WARNING: Use only 0.065 inch(1.6 5
mm) d iameter lin e. Othersi ze s o f linewillnot ad-
vance p roperly and will r esultin i mproper cutting
head function or ca n cause ser ious inju ry. Do
not use other materi als such as wire, string,
rope, etc. Wire can break off during cu tting and
becom ea dangerous missil e thatca n cause se-
rious injury . See page 3 for warni ng concerni ng
other cut ting devices.
TRIMMING
Hold the bottom of the trimmer head about 3
inches (8 cm) above theground andat anan-
gle. Allow only the tip of the lineto makecon-
tact. D o not forcetrimmer line into work area.

EDGING POSITION
You c an twistthe lower portion of the unit int o
an edging position. Press button and twist
lower portion of unit as shown in the illustra-
tion until it snaps into place. To return to trim-
ming position, press button and twi st lower
portion in opposite direction.

While edging, allow unit to rest on wheel for
extra stability. Edge in direction shown in il-
lustrati o n.Allowthetipofthe lineto makecon-
tact. D o not force the line. Take extra caut ion
while edging as objects ca n be thrown from
the tr im mer line.
