Unpacking
Due to modern mass production techniques, it is unlikely
that your GMC Power Tool is faulty or that a part is
missing. If you find anything wrong, do not operate the
tool until the parts have been replaced or the fault has
been rectified. Failure to do so could result in serious
personal injury.
Switching on and off
1. Connect the plug to the
power supply.
2. To turn the sander on press
the “I” side of the on/off
switch (1). To stop the
sander press the “O” side of
the on/off switch (1).
Note. Do not switch on the
tool when the sanding surface
is on the work.
Note. Always lift the sander from the work before
switching off.
Adjusting the speed
The speed can be adjusted
to suit the material being
sanded.
1. To adjust the speed, move
the variable speed control
(6) until you are satisfied
that the speed is what you
need for the job in hand.
Adjusting the front handle
The sander has two handles: the main handle (2) with
rubber grip and the front handle (7) which can be
adjusted to suit the operator’s needs.
1. To adjust the front handle (7)
loosen the handle lock (8)
enough so that you can easily
move the handle into the
desired position.
2. Re-tighten the handle lock (8).
Using the sander
The sander is designed for sanding wood, metal, plastic
and similar materials. It can be used for sanding back and
finishing the surface.
This sander is a handy size for medium jobs.
Operation
1. Switch the sander before you place it on the
workpiece and move it over the surface to be smoothed
in a circular motion.
2. Grip the main handle in one hand and push down
on the front of the handle with the other hand.
3. Take care to hold the sander parallel to the work, and
use only moderate pressure.
4. If there are still marks on your work after sanding,
try either going back to a coarser grade and sanding
the marks out before recommencing with the original
choice of grit, or try using a new piece of sandpaper
to eliminate the unwanted marks before going on to a
finer grit and finishing the job.
WARNING. Wear safety goggles, a dust mask and
ear defenders. The whole sanding pad must rest on
the work piece
WARNING. Do not use the sander in wet or damp
conditions.
