Selecting the right grade of sandpaper
Different grades of sanding paper
can be purchased from your local
hardware store. Available grades
are: Coarse, Medium and Fine.
Use a coarse grit to sand down
rough finishes, medium grit to
smooth the work and fine grit to
finish off.
It is best to make a trial run
on a scrap piece of material to
determine the optimum grades of
sandpaper for a particular job.
Attaching a sanding sheet
WARNING. Remove the plug from the socket before
carrying out any adjustment, servicing or maintenance.
WARNING. Never use the sander unless the entire base is
fitted with sandpaper.
1. Select the required grade of sandpaper.
Hook and loop sandpaper
2. Match the holes in a suitable
sheet with the holes in the
base (4) and press the sheet
to the base to attach it. To
remove the sheet, peel it
away from the base.
Ordinary sandpaper
(non-hook & loop)
3. Release the paper clamp (5)
from both sides of the sander.
4. Insert the end of the
sandpaper under one clamp
and pull the paper tight over
the base (4) ensuring the
holes align with those in the
base and then clamp the
other side.
5. The paper should be kept tightly clamped over the
base, otherwise there could be excessive wear of the
base material.
WARNING. Do not continue to use the sander with a
sanding sheet that is over worn or damaged.
WARNING. Do not use the same sanding sheet for wood
and metal. Metal particles become embedded in the
sandpaper and will scour a wooden surface.
WARNING.Take care to regularly clean out the build up of
dust on the base underneath the sandpaper and not to let
the sandpaper wear completely down before replacing it.
Failure to observe these two precautionary measures can
lead to damage to the hooks and loops on the base and
the sandpaper will not attach properly.
Using the hole punch
If the sandpaper installed does not have holes it will be
necessary to punch holes into the sandpaper using the
hole punch (9) provided.
1. Place the hole punch on a level surface.
2. After fitting the sandpaper to the sander align the base
of the sander with the hole punch and push down on
the sander until the hole punch pierces the sandpaper.
3. Remove the sander from the hole punch.
Dust extraction
WARNING. Never use the sander unless the entire base is
fitted with sandpaper.
WARNING. Remove the plug
from the socket before carrying
out any adjustment, servicing
or maintenance.
Attach the dust extraction
canister (3) to the sander
by pushing and twisting the
bayonet fitting.
