9
You have purchased a 18V heavy duty saw capable of
taking the effort out of many sawing tasks in both wood
and metal. It is robust and extremely versatile.
By changing between the three saw blades provided, it is
possible to use the saw on a wide variety of materials and
in many tasks around the home or workshop.
Fitting and removing the battery pack
To remove the battery pack
from the drill firmly press the
battery release buttons (8) at
either side of the battery pack,
and slide the battery backward
out of the tool.
To install the battery pack,
align rails, on the tool with the
tabs on the battery pack and
slide the battery pack on to the saw. Ensure the battery
pack is sitting straight on the foot and correctly entering
the runners. The battery should slide fully on to the saw
until the battery pack “clicks” into position.
Battery charging
The battery pack for this tool has been shipped in a low
charge condition. You should charge the battery pack fully
before use.
Warning. Do not use an extension cord.
1. Connect the adaptor charger (9) lead to the battery
charger (7).
2. Insert the battery charger (7) into the battery pack (6) and
connect the adaptor charger (9) to a suitable power socket.
3. The battery charge time is
approx. 3–5 hours, after
which the battery pack
should be removed. A good
indication for a fully charged
battery is the temperature of
the battery, which becomes
fairly warm as the battery
becomes fully charged.
4. After normal use, 3 hours of charging time is required for
the battery pack to be fully charged. However, 4–5 hours
charging will ensure a longer run time of your tool.
5. Do not charge batteries for “top up”. Batteries should
be placed on charge only when the battery is noticeably
running down or the tool no longer performs a task it
previously performed.
6. Unplug the adaptor charger and charging slide when not
in use and store them in a dry, secure place.
7. Do not charge your battery pack in temperatures below
0°C or above 40°C.
8. Always remove the battery pack and store it in a dry,
secure place when the tool is not in use.
9. Battery charging should only be carried out indoors.
Warning. Never leave a battery on charge once it starts to
warm up.
Do not charge the battery for more than 8 hours, as this
will damage the battery cells.
If two batteries are to be charged in succession, unplug
the adaptor charger and let it cool down for about 15
minutes before using it for the second battery.
Warning. Consult your local waste authority for
information regarding available recycling and/or disposal
options of a damaged or worn out battery pack.
To obtain the best life for the battery
Never allow the tool to come to a complete stand still
before recharging. The battery should be placed on charge
whenever the battery is noticeably running down or the
tool no longer performs a task it previously performed.
Avoid conducting short charges. Make sure that the battery
is fully charged every time by allowing the charger to
complete its full charging cycle.
Avoid allowing lose items like screws or nails etc to be
stored with battery packs as these or similar items can
short battery packs and cause a fire or explosion.
Always unplug the charger when not in use and store in
a dry secure place.
