Clamping Workpiece
with Vise
A workpiece that is not properly secured
to the table with the vice or other clamping
devices could move during the mortising
operation. Under these circumstances, the
chisel or bit could bind and break apart
and could cause serious personal injury.
This situation, at the least, will produce
poor mortising results. Always secure the
workpiece to the table and up against the
fence.
