Another option for mounting is a "Direct Mount"
where the machine is simply secured to the work-
bench with a lag screw.
The strongest mounting option is a "Through
Mount" where holes are drilled all the way through
the workbench, and hex bolts, washers, and hex
nuts are used to secure the grinder to the work-
bench.
2. Check the stability of the mounted grinder
to make sure it is stable enough to be used
safely.
3. Always make sure the grinder is bolted or
clamped to the workbench, table, or grinder
stand before use.
Tool Rest and Eye
Shield
The tool rest supports the workpiece during grind-
ing. Certain types of grinding may require jigs or
accessories to assure the proper angle of the
workpiece against the wheel.
The eye shield must be installed and positioned
between the grinding wheel and your face during
grinding. The eye shield is NOT a substitute for
safety glasses or a safety face shield. You must
wear ANSI approved face and eye protection.
To assemble the tool rest and eye shield:
1. Using the hardware from the inventory list on
Page 12, assemble the left tool rest and eye
shield as shown in Figures 9 & 10.
