NOTE: Once the charger has started charging the battery; if you press the
Charge Rate button once, the output current is shut off and the display with
show OFF and then the battery voltage. If you press the Charge Rate button
again, the current will go back on at the same setting it was when it was turned
off. For example: The charger is charging a battery at the slow charge rate
setting. If you press the Charge Rate button, the output is turned off. If you
press the Charge Rate button again, the output will turn back on at the slow
charge rate setting.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS11.
This battery charger must be properly assembled in
accordance with the assembly instructions before it is used.
The charger does not have an ON/OFF switch. The On and Off commands are
controlled by plugging the charger into a 120V AC electrical wall outlet only
after the battery connections have been made.
Charging
Ensure that all of the charger components are in place and in good working 1.
condition, for example, the plastic boots on the battery clips.
Connect the battery following the precautions listed in sections 6 and 7.2.
Connect the AC power following the precautions listed in section 8. Make 3.

Select the appropriate settings for your battery.4.
Startup Defaults: Whenrstturnedon,thechargerwilldefaulttothefollowing
startup settings:
Battery Type: Standard•
Battery Voltage: 12 Volts•
ChargeRate:OFF(Nochargerateselected)•
After 10 minutes if no buttons are pressed or no charge rate is selected, the
charger will automatically start charging at the following defaults:
Charge Current: The lowest charge rate setting available, usually 2 amps.•
Charge Voltage: The lowest charge rate voltage available, usually 14.7 •
volts(GelCell),ifnot,then15.4volts(AGM),otherwiseitwillbe16.0volts
(Standardbattery).
Automatic Voltage Detection
When the charger is connected to a battery, it will automatically determine
whether the connected battery is a 6 volt battery or a 12 volt battery. This
eliminates the possibility of using the wrong voltage setting. The display will
show either 6 or 12 depending on what battery voltage the charger detects.
Thermal Runaway
As a safety precaution, the charger will automatically reduce the output current
if it detects the battery may be getting too hot.
NOTE: This charger is equipped with an auto-start feature. It will not supply
current to the battery clips until a battery is properly connected. Meaning, the
clips will not spark if touched together.
Battery Percent and Charge Time: This charger adjusts the charging
timeinordertochargethebatterycompletely,efcientlyandsafely.The
microprocessor automatically performs the necessary functions. This section
includes guidelines that can be used to estimate charging times.
