Shoot using the focus lock or AF lock (pp. 96, 99).
Even when you press the shutter button halfway, the AF frame does not
appear, and the camera does not focus.
If you center onthe light and dark contrasting area of the subject and push the shutter
button halfway, or repeatedly push theshutter button halfway, the AF frame will appear
and the camera will focus.
Subject is too dark.

Setthe [Red-Eye Lamp] to [On](p. 173). When shooting with the flash, the tamp(onthe
front of the camera) lights (p. 42), and for approximately 1 second while the camera is
reducing red-eye, it is not possible to shoot. It is more effective ifthe subject is looking
directly at the lamp. Even better results can beobtained by increasing the lighting in
indoor settings or approaching closer to the subject.
Correct images with red-eye correction (p. 150).
Recording images to the memory card takes a long time, or continuous
shooting slows down.
Perform a low-level format of the memory card in the camera (p. 167).
Cannot make settings for shooting functions or FUNC. menu.
