Miter Cut
A miter cut is made at 0° bevel and any miter angle in the
range from 48° left to 48° right.
The miter scale is cast-in on the base for easy reading.
Positive detents have been provided for fast and accurate
mitering at 0°, 15°, 22.5°, and 45° left and right.
There is also a crown molding detent at 31.6° (see
Cutting Crown Molding for more information page 65).
The sliding fence must always be in its full right position,
for maximum support, when making miter cuts (see
Sliding Fence Adjustment, if necessary, page 54).
For precision settings, use the detent override to lock out
the detent. To adjust for 1/4° angles, use the vernier
scale along with the detent override (see Vernier Scale for
details).
Follow these instructions for making your miter
cut:
1. Loosen miter lock knob 1. Lift miter detent trigger and
move the saw to the desired angle, using either the
detents
2 or the miter scale 3. Tighten miter lock knob
(Figure 27).
2. Properly position workpiece
4. Make sure workpiece is
clamped
5 firmly against the table and the fence.
