MAINTENANCE AND

explained in this manual
must be performed only by a

TO PREVENT
SERIOUS INJURY
FROM ACCIDENTAL
OPERATION:
Turn the Power Switch of the
tool to its “OFF” position and
unplug the tool from its
electrical outlet before
performing any inspection,
maintenance, or cleaning
procedures.
TO PREVENT SERIOUS
INJURY FROM TOOL
FAILURE:
Do not use damaged
equipment. If abnormal noise
or vibration occurs, have the
problem corrected before
further use.
Cleaning, Maintenance, and
Lubrication
BEFORE EACH USE,1. inspect the
general condition of the tool. Check
for loose screws, misalignment or
binding of moving parts, cracked or
broken parts, damaged electrical wir-
ing, and any other condition that may
affect its safe operation.
Periodically blow dust and grit out 2.
of the motor vents using dry com-
pressed air. Always wear safety
glasses when performing this mainte-
nance operation.
AFTER USE,3. clean external surfaces
of the tool with clean cloth. Never use
solvents or harsh cleaners as they
may damage the housing. To pre-
vent electrical shock, do not allow
water or other liquids to enter the
motor vent holes in the Gear Hous-
ing (26).
GRINDING WHEEL CARE:4.
Handling - Do not lean grinding
wheels against an object, or rest ob-
jects on grinding wheels. Do not drop
grinding wheels or roll them across

Storage - Store thick grinding wheels
on appropriate racks and store thin

Store in a relatively constant temper-
ature and do not expose to moisture
or freezing temperatures.
WARNING: To prevent serious
injury from grinding wheel failure,
discard any wheels that have been
improperly handled or stored.

CARBON BRUSH MAINTENANCE.6.
The carbon brushes may require
maintenance when the motor perfor-
mance of the tool decreases or stops
working completely. To maintain the
brushes:
Remove the Screws (40) and Brush a.
Caps (41 and 45) from the sides of
the motor housing.
