To align the riving knife with the blade
:
1. DISCONNECT SAW FROM POWER!
2. Remove the blade guard and table insert.
3. Loosen the two riving knife mounting screws
about
1
4 turn each (loosening these screws
too much makes it difficult to accurately
adjust the riving knife).
4. Place the straightedge firmly against the
blade, making sure that it does not touch the
carbide teeth (
Figure 24).
Blade Guard
Adjustment
The blade guard must return to the closed posi-
tion against the table after each cut has been
made, so the operator is not exposed to the mov
-
ing blade when working around the saw. Figure
25
shows the blade guard in the closed position.

then carefully tighten the mounting screws.
6. Double-check the alignment of the riving knife
to the blade to make sure it did not move
when you tightened the mounting screws,
and readjust if necessary.
7. Replace the table insert and blade guard.
To adjust the blade guard:
1. DISCONNECT SAW FROM POWER!
2. Loosen the front/rear blade guard fastener
(depending on which side is sticking)

should drop down to the closed position
when released.
—If the blade guard does not drop down into
the closed position when released, repeat
