SECTION 6: MAINTENANCE
After prolonged use, you may find it necessary to
replace the grinding wheel. New wheels for the
Model G8220 are available through the Grizzly
catalog. Check the latest catalog for ordering and
price information.
Changing the wet wheel:
1. Remove the Tool Rest assembly.
2. Remove the Water Reservoir.
3. Remove the wheel mounting nut. See
Figure 9. A special wrench is supplied to
remove the wet wheel. Hold the wheel from
turning by holding the dry wheel with your
other hand. Note the threading direction
area molded into the top of the nut.
4. Lift the wheel off of the spindle.
5. When installing the new wheel, make sure
the flat on the wheel plate is engaged on
the spindle. Reinstall the mounting nut.
Never allow visitors into your shop while
assembling, operating, or maintaining tools
and machinery. Keep your shop child-safe
by locking up securely when not in use, and
by providing proper supervision when chil-
dren are present.

Changing the dry wheel:
1. Remove the three screws holding the
wheel cover in place.
2. Use a socket or open end wrench to
remove the nut on the wheel spindle.
3. Remove the wheel flange and the wheel
from the spindle. There is another wheel
flange on the back side of the wheel.
4. When installing the new wheel make sure
the wheel flanges are in place on both sides
of the wheel, with the convex portion of the
flange facing out. Reinstall the hex nut and
tighten.
