Trouble Probable Cause Remedy
Incorrect blade tension. Adjust accordingly (see page 12).
Incorrect blade speed or downfeed
rate.
Adjust acccordingly.
Workpiece loose in vise. Clamp workpiece securely.
Blade rubs on wheel shoulder. Adjust blade tracking.
Teeth too coarse for material.
Use appropriate blade for material
being cut.
Teeth in contact with workpiece
before saw is started.
Start motor before blade contacts
workpiece.
Blade guides are misaligned. Adjust as needed. See page 14.
Blade too thick for wheel diameter. Use thinner blade.
Excessive blade
breakage.
Cracking at weld; poor annealing of
blade.
Replace blade.
Teeth too coarse. Use finer tooth blade.
Blade speed too fast. Reduce speed.
Inadequate downfeed rate. Adjust cylinder dial setting as needed.
Hard spots or scale on material.
Scale: Reduce speed and increase
downfeed rate. Hard Spots: Increase
downfeed rate.
Work hardening of material
(especially stainless steel)
Increase downfeed rate.
Blade installed backwards.
Remove blade, twist inside-out and
re-install.
Premature Blade
Dulling.
Insufficient blade tension. Adjust as needed.
