DC WIRE FEED WELDING (CV)
WITH RANGER 300D
1. Connect an LN-25 with internal contactor to the
Ranger 300D.
2. The only Innershield electrode recommended for
use with the Ranger 300D is NR211MP. The elec-
trode sizes and welding ranges that can be used
with the Ranger 300D are shown in the following
table:
The Ranger 300 D is recommended for limited "MIG"
welding (GMAW - gas metal arc welding). The recom-
mended electrodes are .030 and .035 L-50 and L-56.
They must be used with a blended shielding gas such
as C25 (75% Argon - 25% CO2). The .035 diameter
electrode gives improved starting compared to .030
diameter. The welding ranges that can be used with
the Ranger 300D are shown in the following table:
3. Set the IDLER control to AUTO.
4. Set the RANGER switch to the WIRE FEED (CV-
red setting).
5. Set the POLARITY SWITCH to either WIRE FEED
DC+ (red) or WIRE FEED DC- (red), depending on
the electrode.
6. Set the OUTPUT control to a setting between 1
and 10 that gives the most stable arc for the appli-
cation.
7. Strike an arc and begin welding. the OUTPUT
control can be adjusted while welding. DO NOT
change the RANGE switch setting while welding.
This can result in damage to the switch.
AFTER YOU FINISH WELDING:
1. Stop the engine
2. Allow the work to cool completely
3. Remove the work clamp from the work
CARBON ARC GOUGING
(CONSTANT CURRENT)
1. The recommended electrode ia a 3/16” (4.8 mm)
dia. carbon
2. Set the RANGE switch to 300
3. Set the POLARITY switch to DC+ (cc - blue setting)
4. Set the OUTPUT control to 10
5. Strike an arc and begin gouging
After you finish gouging:
1. Stop the engine
2. Allow the electrode and work to cool completely
3. Remove the work clamp from the work
