Cleaning the Mouse
When to Clean
the Rubber Ball
If the arrow or pointer on your screen does not move freely as
you direct it with the mouse, you may need to clean the rubber
ball inside the mouse as Table 8–1 describes.
Table 8–1 Steps for Cleaning the Mouse
Step Description
1 Turn the mouse upside down and remove the cover plate as
shown in Figure 8–1.

2 Remove the rubber ball and clean it with lukewarm water. If
necessary, use a mild soap. Do not use any kind of organic
solvents to clean the rubber ball as they can damage the
coating. Dry the rubber ball with a soft cloth.
3 Return the rubber ball to the mouse unit and replace the cover
plate making sure that it is locked into position so that the
rubber ball cannot fall out.
