 Use the chuck key to remove the old drill
bit, and open the chuck wide enough to
accept the new bit or the sanding drum
mandrel(see).
 Installthebitormandrelsothechuckjaws
will grab as much of the bit or mandrel
shank as it can.
• If you are installing a small drill bit, make
sureitisheldbetweenthreejawsinstead
ofonlytwo,andNEVERallowachuckto
grab the fluted body of drill bits.
 Using any of the three key locations,
tighten the chuck with the chuck key and
