SECTION 6: MAINTENANCE
Metal chips left on the machine that have been
soaked with water-based coolant will invite oxida-
tion and a gummy residue build-up around the
moving parts. Use a brush and shop vacuum to
remove chips and debris from the working sur-
faces of the mill/drill. Never blow off the mill/drill
with compressed air, as this will force metal chips
deep into the mechanisms and may cause injury
to yourself or bystanders.
Remove any rust build-up from unpainted cast
iron surfaces of mill/drill and treat with a non-
staining lubricant after cleaning.
Protect other unpainted cast iron surfaces with
regular applications of products like G96
®
Gun
Treatment, SLIPIT
®
, or Boeshield
®
T-9. (See
Accessories on Page 27 for more details.)
An essential part of lubrication is cleaning the
components before lubricating them.
This step is critical because grime and chips build
up on lubricated components over time, which
makes them hard to move.
Clean all exterior components in this section with
mineral spirits, shop rags, and brushes before
lubricating.
DISCONNECT MACHINE FROM POWER
BEFORE PERFORMING LUBRICATION!

could lead to premature failure of machine
and will void warranty.
