When battery power is low
The charge indicator on the main unit will light
when battery power is low. Please note the
following points about using the device after the
charge indicator lights:
• Stop using the device when the charge indicator
comes on.
• Battery power is low and the device will cease to
operate shortly after the charge indicator comes
on.
• To continue using the device after the charge indicator comes on, use the AC
adapter or an alternative power source to power the device.
• Always fully charge the battery before using it again after the charge indicator
lights.
• If the operating time for each charge when using the battery become noticeably
shorter than usual, refer to “About the Memory Effect” below.
If the battery will not be used for a long time
• If the battery is not used for approximately 10 days after being charged, the
battery capacity will be reduced to about half that of normal due to self-discharge
of the battery power. If the battery will not be used for a long time, use the battery
until the charge indicator on the main unit lights (to fully discharge the battery)
before charging it.
About the Memory Effect
• If the battery is repeatedly charged before it has fully discharged, the operating
time possible for each charge will gradually be reduced. This is known as the
“memory effect” and is normal for nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. It does
not indicate a battery error or malfunction.
• If the operating time for each charge become reduced, fully charge the battery
and operate the device until the unit stops operating (rather then when the charge
indicator lights) two or three times in a row. This should restore the battery
capacity to normal. If the battery capacity does still not return to normal, replace
the battery with a new one.
