4. Check for discoloration and remove the carbon.
The porcelain insulator around the center elec-
trode of spark plug should be a medium-to-light tan
color.
5. Check the spark plug type and gap a.

The spark plug gap should be measured with a wire
thickness gauge and, if necessary, adjusted to specifi-
cation.
2. Remove the spark plug cap 3 and cap 4, and
insert the tool 5 through the hole from the outside
of the cover.

Spark plug inspection
The spark plug is important engine components, which
should be checked periodically.
1. Remove the screws 1, and then remove the cover

Spark Plug Gap a:
0.6–0.7 mm (0.024–0.028 in)
3. Insert the handlebar 6 into the tool 5 and turn it
counterclockwise to remove the spark plug.
