Status LEDs
D—Status LEDs
6. Observe Status LEDs (D). Status LEDs illuminate
under the following conditions:
CHARGED (green) LED illuminates if charged
battery is tested.
CHARGING (yellow) LED does not illuminate in
battery test mode.
CHECK (red) LED illuminates if connections to
battery are incorrect.
None of the status lights illuminate if DISPLAY
MODE is set to VOLTAGE.
NOTE: If the CHARGE RATE button is not pressed within
ten minutes of powering up the unit, the unit will
operate for that period as a tester, not a charger.
After ten minutes, if no button is pressed, the unit
will automatically switch from tester to charger, set
to charge rate of 2 amps and 12V REGULAR
battery type (default condition). Pressing the
DISPLAY MODE or BATTERY TYPE button within
the first ten minutes will keep the unit as a tester
(not a charger) indefinitely, unless a charge rate is
selected. Pressing the CHARGE RATE button
activates the battery charger, and deactivates the
tester.
7. If necessary, press Battery Type button until correct
battery type is illuminated.
8. Read battery voltage on digital display, or press
Display Mode button to read BATTERY %, an estimate
of the battery’s relative charge, which appears several
seconds after selection. (ALTERNATOR % cannot be
set during battery charging.)
NOTE: After unit has been changed from tester to
charger, it remains a charger as long as it has
power. To test battery after charging, disconnect
and reconnect power.
9. To disconnect the battery charger after testing, first
unplug the power cord. Then remove the clamp from
the chassis or engine block, and finally, disconnect the
clamp from the battery post.
