General
Regular periodic maintenance on your Model
W1686 will ensure its optimum performance.
Make a habit of inspecting your machine each
time you use it. Check for the following condi-
tions and repair or replace when necessary.
1. Loose mounting bolts.
2. Worn switch.
3. Worn or damaged cords and plugs.
4. Damaged sanding sleeve.
5. Any other condition that could hamper the
safe operation of this machine.
Table And Base
Tables can be kept rust-free with regular appli-
cations of products like SLIPIT
®
. For long term
storage you may want to consider products like
Boeshield
®
T-9 .
Cleaning
Because sanders produce more saw dust than
most other woodworking machines, extra care
must be taken to vacuum off areas that accu-
mulate dust. If left to build up, the saw dust will
work its way into the motor, bearings, and all
other parts of the machine. Eventually the saw
dust will begin to cause damage to the internal
workings of the sander.
If any part of the sander becomes difficult to
operate, it is most likely caused by an accumu-
lation of saw dust. Immediately investigate the
area and remove the saw dust.
