Adding more than one ELAN to an ATM adapter enables the filer to communicate over
more ELANs than the number of physical adapters installed in the filer. To do so,
repeat the procedures in “Adding an ELAN to the Adapter” and “Configuring the Logi-
cal Ethernet Interface,” found earlier in this document, for each ELAN you want to add
to the adapter.

If you make a mistake using the elconfig add command, you can delete an ELAN
from an adapter using the elconfig delete command.
Command syntax: The elconfig delete command has the following syntax:

ELAN
is the Emulated LAN that you want to delete from the adapter.
unit_number
is the unit designator for the ATM adapter in the filer.
Example: The following command deletes the nineKMTU ELAN for the adapter des-
ignated by unit 2:

If an IP address has already been assigned to a logical Ethernet interface on the
adapter using ifconfig, you should see a message stating
elconfig ELAN in
use
displayed as output from the elconfig delete command.
In this case, you must mark the interface as “down” by entering the
ifconfig

mand before deleting the ELAN from the adapter:
