Figure 19. Motor lock screw.
Figure 20. Idler bracket hex bolts.
The belts in the head of the mill/drill must be
rearranged to change speeds. A chart on the belt
cover shows the belt positions needed to make
the mill/drill run at the desired speed.
To change speeds
:
1. UNPLUG THE MILL/DRILL!
2. Loosen the motor lock screw (shown in
Figure 19), so the motor is free to pivot.
Changing Speeds
3. Pivot the motor to loosen the belt tension.
4. Loosen, but do not remove, the two idler
bracket hex bolts shown in
Figure 20.
6. Tighten both idler bracket hex bolts.
7. Remove any slack in the motor pulley belt by
shifting the motor back into position.
8. Tighten the motor lock screw.
9. Close the cover before plugging in the
machine.

A-2
5. Locate the desired speed on the belt cover
speed chart or on Page 22 and move the V-
belts to the desired V-grooves on the motor,
idler, and spindle pulleys.
For Example: As indicated in the speed
chart (Figure 21), a belt combination of A-2
creates 730 RPM
.
Note: Both belts may have to be removed
before certain speed changes can be made.
It is normal for the idler bracket to move in
response to a belt change.
