10-10. Typical Connections To Supply Standby Power

perform these connections
according to all applicable
codes and safety practices.
1 Power Company Service
Meter
2 Main and Branch Overcurrent
Protection
3 Double-Pole, Double-Throw
Transfer Switch
Obtain and install correct switch.
Switch rating must be same as or
greater than the branch overcurrent
protection.
4 Circuit Breakers or Fused
Disconnect Switch
Obtain and install correct circuit
breakers or switch.
5 Extension Cord
Select as shown in Section 10-11.
6 Generator Connections
Connect terminals or plug of ade-
quate amperage capacity to cord.
Follow all applicable codes and
safety practices.
Turn off or unplug all equipment
connected to generator before
starting or stopping engine. When
starting or stopping, the engine has
low speed which causes low volt-
age and frequency.
7 Load Connections
. Customer-supplied equipment is required if
generator is to supply standby power during
emergencies or power outages.
