Clamping Pressure and Parallelism
Set screws on the rear side of the fence bracket adjust
the clamping pressure to hold your fence securely, and
position the fence parallel to the blade.

(% DISCONNECT THE SAW FROM POWER!
)% Remove the fence.
*% Equally adjust the set screws shown in =`^li\(',
on the rear side of the front bracket as necessary
until the clamping pressure is strong enough that the
fence will not move as pressure is applied against it.

+% Place the fence approximately 4" away from the
blade.
,% Measure the distance between the fence and the
front of the blade at one end of the table insert,
then mark the tooth that you measured from with a
felt-tipped marker.
-% Rotate the blade to the other end of the table insert
(see =`^li\('-), and recheck the distance between
the fence and the blade to ensure they are parallel.
.% Use trial-and-error to adjust the set screws so the
fence is parallel to the blade and the clamping
pressure is sufficient.

The argument is that this offset adjustment reduces
the chance of kickback by alleviating potential
binding that may occur between the backside of
the blade and fence. The trade-off is slightly less
accurate cuts.
