Defining UI Component Field Properties
...
1. In the Layout workspace, select the UI component whose fields you want to define and
choose Model → Define Fields to display the Fields task panel.
2. In the top list of the Fields task panel, select the field to be modified. You can then
change the property values as follows.
Data
The available Data options vary, depending on field type.
Name
Read-only.
Type
Read-only.
Required?
Indicates a mandatory field. Click to toggle the selection on and
off. If you designate a field as mandatory, it requires input at
runtime.
Zero Fill?
If the function on which your iView is based uses an automatic
conversion that adds zero fill, you will need to define the zero fill
for the input fields of the iView. Zero fill is automatically applied to
output fields by the system that returns the data.
To define zero fill:
• Click in the Zero Fill field to select the option. A check mark
indicates that Zero Fill is selected.
• In the Max. Length field, define the maximum length to be
filled in.
Tip:
To determine the required zero fill value, click the target
input port of the data service (in the Design workspace), and
in the Define Fields list, note the Max. Length value for that
field.
Min. Value
For numeric fields, used in conjunction with Max. Value to specify
a range of valid values, such as a date range.

Max. Length
Maximum field length. Must be defined if Zero Fill is defined for the

Link URL
Defined if the selected field is a link type. Click the icon at the right
in the field, and in the Link URL dialog box, enter the URL you
want this field to launch.
Action
This option is available only when the selected field is a button
type. It defines the action launched by clicking the button.
If the button appears on an input form, the name of the line
connecting the input form with the data service must be the same
as the Action value defined here.
Description
Provides additional information about the field. The descriptive text
will appear in the model documentation, if it is produced. See
Generating Model Documentation [Page
177].
