The V-belt transfers power from the motor to the
spindle. If the V-belt does not have the proper tension
or is damaged in any way, the shaper will not operate
optimally and unnecessary wear on the moving parts will
occur. Regularly check the V-belt tension and replace it
when necessary.

(% DISCONNECT SHAPER FROM POWER!
)% Remove the rear and side motor access panels.
*% Loosen the two motor adjustment hex bolts (see
=`^li\,')% DO NOT remove the bolts completely.
*% If the V-belt is cracked, excessively worn, or
damaged, slide the motor toward the spindle, then
replace the V-belt.
+% To tension the V-belt, slide the motor away from
the spindle until the V-belt is snug, then tighten the
bolts. The amount of V-belt deflection between the
pulley should be approximately

4" when moderate
pressure is applied, as illustrated in =`^li\,(.
,% When the V-belt is adjusted properly, re-tighten the
motor mount hex bolts.
-% Check to make sure the V-belt is correctly aligned on
both pulleys (refer to Glcc\p8c`^ed\ekon GX^\+'
for detailed instructions).
