MAKING O_HER CUTS

Variations from the basic cuts include cutting long
workpieces and non-through cuts.
When making one of the following cuts, follow the
instructions that apply for the basic cut, depending on
the position, shape, and size of the wood. Do not
attempt these cuts untilyou are skilled with the basic
cuts.
CUTTING LONG WORKPIECES
See Figure 48.
• Place a support the same height as the saw table
nearby for the cut work.
WARNING: Make sure the blade guard is
lowered and is working properly to prevent
possible injury.
WARNING: Never put your hands within 3 in. of
the blade when it is on.
• Make sure the wood does not touch the blade
before you turn on the saw with the switch on the
arm. Let the blade build up to full speed before it
contacts the wood.
• When the work is completed, press the switch off
and remove the key.
