Kickback Hazard
Kickback is the uncontrolled propelling of the
workpiece back toward the user during rip-
ping.
The cause of kickback is the binding or
pinching of the blade in the workpiece. Sev-
eral conditions can cause the blade to bind
or pinch.
When a workpiece kicks back, it could hit
hard enough to cause internal organ injury,
broken bones, or death.
Read and follow the information and
instructions under ripping safety.
Wrong Way Feed Hazard
Wrong way feed is ripping by feeding the
workpiece into the outfeed side of the blade.
The rotational force of the blade can grab
and pull the workpiece.
Before you can let go or pull back, the force
could pull your hand along with the work-
piece into the blade. Fingers or hand could
be cut off.
The propelled workpiece could hit a
bystander, causing severe impact injury or
death.
Read and follow the information and
instructions under ripping safety.
