CAT III A typical CAT III environment is
the power distribution system
within a building or factory. These
environments are somewhat
protected from lightning strikes,
but susceptible to switching
transients and other disturbances
that may generate high voltage
impulses.
CAT II A typical CAT II environment is
the 120/240 V distribution system
within a lab or office. These
environments are fairly well
protected from external high
voltage disturbances.
CAT I A typical CAT II environment is
circuitry inside electrical or elec-
tronic equipment that is powered
by a power supply or a battery.
