FTP Server Enable
1–8 servers are available for FTP. When more than one server is enabled, the appliance will
transfer the newly recorded file to each enabled server. Since FTP transfer can be a slower
process than the recording process, it is possible to overrun the FTP queue if too many
servers are enabled. The server parameters are set in Configuration: FTP File Transfer >
Servers.
Progressive Download
A WM Appliance configured with a hard drive also supports progressive download.
Progressive download (or On Demand Playback) is a method of delivering audio and video
that involves caching and playing the downloaded portion of a file while a download is still in
progress via FTP. Progressive download is "bursty"—unlike streaming video which is
delivered in a metered and continuous flow to end users—and there is also a suggested
Archive Duration (sec) Length of recorded file. Range 0–43200. Default = 0 (implies
manual Start/Stop). Maximum = 43200 (12 hours). Set to zero for
continuous recording. This will auto-select Maximum. For best
results and usable video, set the archive duration to 10 seconds or
more.
Note: Archive Duration and Archive Maximum File Size are
mutually exclusive. The archiver uses the first parameter that
exceeds its configured threshold. Also note that the values you set
are approximate; the actual Duration or File Size may vary slightly
depending on bit rate, content, and other factors.
Archive Maximum File
Size (bytes)
The maximum size file that can be recorded. Range 0–4294967295
(approx. 4 GB). Default = 0 (implies a maximum file size of 4 GB).
If set to zero, the maximum file size is auto-selected.
Auto FTP After Archive If Enabled, the file is auto FTPed to all enabled servers when the
