COMPOUND MITER CUT
A compoundmitercut isa cut made usinga miter
angleand a bevel angleat thesame time. This type of
cutis usedto make pictureframes, cutmolding,make
boxes withslopingsides, and for certainroof framing
cuts.
To make thistypeof cut thecontrolarm on the miter
table mustbe rotatedto the correctangle and thesaw
arm mustbe tilted tothe correct bevelangle. Care
shouldalways be taken when makingcompound miter
setupsdue tothe interactionof the two angle setings..
Adjustmentsof miter and bevel settingsare interde-
pendent withone another.Eachtime you adjustthe
mitersetting you changethe effect ofthe bevel
setting. Also, each timeyou adjust the bevel setting
you change the effectof the miter setting.
It may take several settingsto obtainthe desiredcut.
The firstanglesetting shouldbe checked after setting
the secondangle, since adjustingthe secondangle
affects the first.
Once thetwo correct settingsfor a particularcuthave
been obtained, alwaysmake a test cut inscrap
matedal beforemakinga finishcut in goodmatedaL
