basic band saw operation

BEFORE USING THE BAND SAW.
Aband saw is basically a "curve cutting" machine. It
is not capable of doing inside cutting.
Your Craftsman Band Saw is not only capable of the
usual band saw operations, but it can be converted
into a sander as well. You can finish wood, certain
compositions and plastics.
It is also used for straight-line cutting operations
such as crosscutting, ripping, mitering, beveling,
compound cutting, and resawing.

CIRCLE CUTTING
t. Adjust the upper guides to just clear the work-
piece.
2. Use both hands while feeding the work into the
blade. Hold the workpiece firmly against the
table. Use gentle pressure, and do not force the
work, but allow the blade to cut.
3. The smallest diameter that can be cut out is
determined by the width of the blade. For
example, a 1/4-inch wide blade will cut a mini-
mum diameter of approximately 1-1/2-inch (see
chart).

bottom cover to attach a 2-1/2-inch hose from a
wet/dry vac to control sawdust.
